(NC)—Now that spring is here, Canadians are on the path to clean and organize their homes. Everyone is looking for a fresh start to the season and STAPLES Business Depot offers a few easy tips and suggestions on how to organize your home.
"From garbage bags to recycle bins to magazine and letter holders to shredders, filing cabinets and safes," says Pete Gibel, vice president, STAPLES Business Depot. "Staples offers a vast selection of products to help get you started and stay organized."
Before taking on the self-designated task of spring cleaning, there are a few essential things you will need before you get started:
1. Garbage & clear recycling bags
2. Plastic totes for storage of winter clothing, heavier blankets and linens.
3. Shredder: shred personal documents and protect yourself from fraud. Shred old statements, mail and other personal documents to help protect your identity. Don't cheat the tax man; ensure you keep all the required documents in the event you are audited.
4. Recycle bins: whether you are eliminating old magazines, cleaning out the fridge or cabinets, be environmentally friendly and recycle.
Once the essential tools to getting started are in place, here are few tips to keep in mind before taking on too much spring cleaning at one time:
1. Frame of mind: there is no enjoyment in tackling not so fun tasks if you are not in the right frame of mind.
2. Make a list: determine what you want to accomplish and be realistic; one task at a time.
3. Sort: when spring cleaning determine what you want to keep, throw out, recycle and/or give away.
4. Organization tools: find the right tools to keep organized once you have gone through all the clutter.
Some items to consider in getting and staying organized are calendars or an agenda: to document dates and special occasions; pre-printed return address labels; external drives or flash drives: secure files and photographs on an external drive to manage your computer's memory and to keep them safe in the event your computer crashes; stock up on essentials like batteries, stamps, ink and toner cartridges, paper and envelopes.
Make recycling part of your clean up. STAPLES Business Depot collects old cell phones, batteries and ink and toner cartridges. One dollar from every eligible ink and toner cartridge recycled will be donated towards local schools that are registered with STAPLES Business Depot's Recycle for Education program
